Eid al-Adha Celebration and BBQ

Eid al-Adha is a celebration to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. At the very point of sacrifice, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in place of his son. This command from Allah SWT was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question. Therefore, Eid al-Adha means the festival of sacrifice.

The true essence of Eid is celebrating it together as a community. Guests joined our fellows out doors for a BBQ in the park to learn more about Eid al-Adha, eat lots of fresh lamb meat, compete in the traditional egg fight, and celebrate! Many dressed up in their traditional or best clothes in order to grill outside with our interfaith community. We had long time community members, families, past fellows, and a few new faces. Thanks to all who came out!
