Alex Foster

Alex Foster is an architectural designer based in Arlington, Virginia, with a range of experience in commercial, institutional, and religious sectors, as well as pro-bono work in international development. From medieval court tennis facilities to master plans for tuberculosis clinics in South Sudan, she collaborates on teams that see the built environment as a catalyst to shape human interactions and foster connections.

From 2022 to 2024, Alex was the Christian Fellow at the Abrahamic House, where living in community and building bridges deepened her interest in using design to support sustained engagement across diverse groups. Her architectural training and research on the intersection of contextual and religious design continue to inform her work, guiding her in creating spaces that encourage intentional connections.

In addition to her professional practice, Alex serves on the Arlington Historic and Landmark Review Board (HALRB) and the Design Review Committee, helping to honor the area’s architectural heritage while shaping its future development.

Outside of architecture, she is an active member of her church, enjoys playing the uilleann pipes and has a special interest in coordinating blood drives.
