Diar Kaussler is joining the Abrahamic House after several years of experience in non-profit management and community development. Most recently, she has successfully launched and managed non-profit startups. As the director of Horizons Learning Foundation, she was in charge of establishing and scaling Up with People Jr, a performing arts day camp for children with the aim to foster inter-cultural understanding, global awareness and community service. In response to the pandemic in 2020, she created a public/private funded outdoor school to better serve public school students and families in her local community. Prior to her to work in the United States, she worked for a race equality and community development initiative in Scotland. Diar is committed to civic work that bridges divisions, celebrates humankind’s cultural, international and religious diversity and creates new and deep relationships between communities.
Diar holds a LLM in Human Rights Law from the University of Glasgow, a M.Litt in Middle East Studies from the University of St Andrews and a BA in International Relations from the University of Sussex in the UK. While she is originally from Sweden, she currently resides in Harrisonburg, VA with her husband, Bernie and three kids.
